Facebook suffered intermittent outages on Thursday, in a Thanksgiving crash that kept many from posting about how thankful they are. The problems impacted the main Facebook site, Facebook Messenger and Instagram for users across the globe.
The Facebook-owned WhatsApp messaging service appeared to be working as normal.

Reports started to spike at around 6 a.m. PT, according to Downdetector. CNET editors had trouble accessing the sites or/and refreshing feeds on both US coasts and in the UK.
"We're aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing Facebook's family of apps. We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible," a Facebook company spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
As of 9 a.m. PT, the outage reports starting to drop off for Facebook and Instagram. In a statement emailed at 9:30 a.m. PT, a Facebook spokesperson said the problems were caused by "an issue in one of our central software systems."
"We quickly investigated, started restoring access, and we're now monitoring for full recovery. We're sorry for the inconvenience," the spokesperson said in a emailed statement.
Just after noon PT, Facebook sent an email saying the issue has been resolved: "We are back to 100% for everyone."
Facebook sites weren't the only ones experiencing Thanksgiving Day problems. As Black Friday deals kicked in, Costco's site started experiencing some sluggishness starting around 6 a.m. PT.
